DE-ESCALATING HOSTILE AND POTENTIALLY
VIOLENT SITUATIONS

OUTLINE

This session will help you create strategies on how to de-escalate a person’s violent outbursts using the art of Tactical Assertive Communication and non-violent communication

If you are being intimidated, yelled at, abused or feel that others may be using ‘standover tactics and bullying behaviour, then this course is for you. The strategies WORK

It is important to note, this program will go beyond the scope of education that may already be provided by;  for example other ‘Dealing with difficult people’ and ‘Conflict resolution’ courses.

OBJECTIVES

•Learning to handle intimidation

•Responding in a logical and rational manner

•Use appropriate verbal language that calms emotions

•Develop a sense of ‘appropriate’ resilience eg, not always good to “fight fire with fire”

•Taking back control after the abusive situation has occurred

•Tips around what ‘tools’ can be used to handle such situations.

•Standing up for your rights while still portraying a positive image of WATPAC

•Understanding the drivers that escalate anger.

•Using negotiation tactics to meet the needs of what your responsibilities are and the needs of the stakeholders

•Help manage emotions from both sides
